Department of finance and accounting

The Department of Finance and Accounting is the coordinating department of the Bachelor's programme Business Administration and Financial Management and the follow-on Master's programme Corporate Finance Management in the Global Environment. The department offers both Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes. It offers courses such as Accounting, Finance, Basics of Tax and Financial Law and many others.

doc. Ing. Jiřína Bokšová, Ph.D.

Head of Finance and Accounting Department

Jiřina Bokšová graduated from the University of Economics in Prague (VŠE) in 1985 and joined the Accounting Department the same year as an assistant. From the beginning of her work at VŠE, she specialised in insurance accounting and financial reporting. In 2004, she defended her dissertation on Specific Issues of Insurance Accounting in the context of harmonisation processes related to the accession to EU. She later worked with the Chamber of Auditors of the Czech Republic, where she started to work as a lecturer of future auditors and as an examiner. In 2010, she did her habilitation at VŠE in the field of accounting and financial management and was appointed docent. Since 2012, she has worked full-time as the Head of the Department of Finance and Accounting at ŠKODA AUTO University in Mladá Boleslav. She is a lecturer and coordinator of three courses: Fundamentals of Accounting and Financial Reporting, Financial Accounting of Entrepreneurs in the CR and Information Capability of Financial Statements. She regularly attends international conferences and is an active publisher. She authored and co-authored several books, e.g. Accounting of Commercial Insurance Companies - specifics in the Czech Republic (2010); Financial Statements in Detail (2013); Lexicon of Accounting Terms (2015); and a number of academic articles both in domestic and foreign periodicals. Her other activities include expert opinions in accounting, including expert studies and opinions requested by public authorities. In 2014, she was selected by the Chamber of Auditors as an expert in the matter of assessing the quality of audit reports in disciplinary proceedings with auditors. In 2013– 2014, 2014– 2015 and 2015– 2016, she won the student award "Academic of the Year" at ŠKODA AUTO University.

doc. Ing. Romana Čižinská, Ph.D.

Member of Finance and Accounting Department

Romana Čižinská graduated in Tax Consultancy (Bc.), Business Finance and Trade (Ing.) and Business Management and Economics (Ph.D.) at the Faculty of Business of the Technical University in Brno. In 2009, she became docent in Business Economics at the Faculty of Business Administration of the University of Economics in Prague. She has worked for ŠKODA AUTO University since 2006, currently as a docent in the Department of Finance and Accounting. She teaches and coordinates courses in corporate finance at both Bachelor's and Master's level. She regularly gives lectures in financial modules of Central European studies for Executive MBA at the Dominican University in Chicago and Technical University in Brno. She also provides analytical, consulting and advisory services in the field of performance evaluation and corporate valuation. She has authored and co-authored five expert monographs and dozens of conference and journal articles.

Ing. Josef Horák, Ph.D.

Member of Finance and Accounting Department

Josef Horák is a university lecturer. He graduated from the Faculty of Economics of the Technical University in Liberec in the field of Business Economics (Ing.) and has a Ph.D. from the same faculty in Business Administration and Management. Between 2006 and 2015, he worked in the Department of Finance and Accounting at the Faculty of Economics of the Technical University of Liberec. In addition to lectures and research, he was also involved in preparing reports on the faculty’s management. He has published a number of expert articles on corporate financial management, financial and managerial accounting. Josef is currently most interested in Industry 4.0 from the point of view of financial and managerial accounting. In terms of teaching, he specialises in financial and managerial accounting. He has worked for ŠKODA AUTO University since 2006.

doc. Ing. Tomáš Krabec, MBA, Ph.D.

Member of Finance and Accounting Department

Tomáš Krabec teaches courses dealing with advanced finance, financial management and valuation at ŠKODA AUTO University. In his research, he focuses on the standardisation and methodology of asset valuation, behavioural finance and the economy of competition. So far, he has published six specialist monographs (two of which were published in Berlin), dozens of research papers published in the Czech Republic and abroad. He presented the results of his research at a number of global academic conferences. He regularly gives lectures at foreign universities as a guest professor. In addition to academic and research activities, Tomáš also works as an expert witness specialising in the valuation of enterprises and securities. In terms of his expert specialisation, he focuses on the preparation of review, arbitration and reconciliation expert opinions in the field of economics and economic expert activity. He has also specialised in the valuation of medical practices and medical companies and projects.

prof. Ing. Jiří Strouhal, Ph.D.

Member of Finance and Accounting Department

Jiří Strouhal is a respected expert in accounting and financial management and, despite his young age, is a long-time university lecturer. In 2003, he graduated from the University of Economics in Accounting and Corporate Finance Management, obtaining his Ph.D. two years later. He did his habilitation in 2012, successfully completed the professor certification in Business Economics and Management in 2015 and was appointed professor by the president in 2016 as the youngest ever professor in the field. He has worked with ŠKODA AUTO University since 2012, full-time since 2017. He also provides advisory services to audit companies and government bodies (GFŘ, Czech Statistical Office). He is the author of more than 30 specialised books in the field of accounting and financial management and many research articles in the same fields. Since 2011, he has been the president of the Chamber of Certified Accountants of the Czech Republic and the chairman of the Review Committee of the Union of Accountants Prague since 2016.
