Department of marketing and management

The Marketing and Management Department offers both Bachelor’s and Master’s courses. It is the coordinating department for the Bachelor’s specialisation Business Management and the follow-on Master’s specialisation International Marketing. At the same time, the department is the academic department responsible for double degree programmes in cooperation with the University of Applied Science Upper Austria, HTW Dresden and Seinajoki University of Applied Sciences. The department’s research and publication activities cover, for example, the topics of internationalisation, diversity or sustainable consumer behaviour.

doc. Ing. Pavel Štrach, Ph.D., Ph.D.

Director of the MBA programme, Head of Marketing and Management Department

Pavel Štrach is a graduate of the Prague University of Economics and Business, Faculty of Management (Bc., Ing.) and Faculty of Business Administration (Ph.D.). He has also completed a doctoral course of study at the Otago Business School, University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand. He qualified for associate professorship in the field of management at the University of Prešov in Prešov. He worked for more than 10 years as a permanent visiting professor at IONA College, LaPenta School of Business in New York. Between the years of 2014 and 2016, he worked as Professor for International Services and Innovation at the University of Applied Sciences, School of Management in the Austrian city of Steyr. He has worked at the Škoda Auto University in various positions since 2006 – Director of the MBA programme, Guarantor of the follow-up Master’s study programme, Head of the Department of Marketing and Management and Vice-Rector for International Relations. Articles written by Pavel Štrach dealing with the issue of strategies in international business have been published in professional journals in more than 25 countries on 4 continents, e.g. Services Marketing Quarterly, the Journal of Global Scholars of Marketing Science and the Journal of Product and Brand Management.

Ing. Eva Jaderná, Ph.D.

Member of Marketing and Management Department

Eva Jaderná is a university lecturer. She graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice in the field of Commercial Business specialising in Tourism (Ing.), followed by doctoral study at the Faculty of Economics at the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice in the field of Business Administration and Economics (Ph.D.). Between the years of 2003 and 2017, she worked in small and medium-sized enterprises in the field of management of manufacturing and retail. She has published a number of academic articles and monographs, especially in the field of marketing, business management and destination management. In the field of teaching, she specialises in B2B marketing, business management and marketing research. She has been an assistant professor at the Škoda Auto University since 2015.

doc. Ing. Jana Přikrylová, PhD.

Member of Marketing and Management Department

Jana Přikrylová is an Associate Professor in the Department of Management and Marketing at the Škoda Auto University. She obtained her academic education at the Prague University of Economics and Business and at the University of Economics in Bratislava. During the course of her career, she has, apart from the academic sector, also worked in international trade organisations and as a consultant in various international projects. She has taught MBA programmes in the USA and Canada and also cooperated in the preparation and teaching of international marketing in the Master’s in International Management programme, which is offered by the CEMS group, Global Alliance in Management Education. She teaches, publishes and acts as guarantor for subjects and programmes in the field of international business, marketing and sales.

doc. Ing. Monika Ploch Palatková, Ph.D.

Member of Marketing and Management Department

Monika Ploch Palatková graduated from the University of Economics, Faculty of International Relations (Ing., Ph.D.), and habilitated at Mendel University, Faculty of Business and Economics, in the field of Economics and Management. As part of her doctoral studies, she completed a study stay at the University of St. Gallen, focusing on International Tourism Marketing and Management. She has long alternated between academia and practice, starting as a marketing research manager at the CzechTourism agency, then moving to the private sector at FISCHER as Product Manager and Sales and Marketing Manager for domestic and inbound tourism. From 2014 to 2019, she served as Director of Development and later, from 2015, as the General Director of the CzechTourism agency, which operates over 20 foreign offices worldwide. She represented the Czech Republic in the European Travel Commission and was a member of the Czech Commission for UNESCO. She led the team responsible for preparing the Marketing Concept of Tourism 2013-2020/2021 for CzechTourism. In the field of education, she worked both in academia and in lifelong learning, e.g., in projects for the Czech Chamber of Commerce. She has been working at Škoda Auto University since 2024.

Monika Ploch Palatková's professional publications focus on international marketing and management, with an emphasis on tourism, destinations, and air transport, and more recently on sustainability and digital marketing.

Ing. Jana Pechová, Ph.D.

Member of Marketing and Management Department

Jana Pechová graduated from the Faculty of Business and Economics at the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague in the field of Business and Administration (1997, Bc.). She later graduated in Economics and Management (1999, Ing.) from the Faculty of Economics at the Technical University in Liberec. She obtained her Ph.D. in 2010 at the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague, the Faculty of Business and Economics in the field of Management. She has worked in various positions in Škoda Auto, a.s. since 2000, the longest being as a specialist in the Department of Adult Education in the Vocational Training Group. She has worked at the Škoda Auto University as a lecturer in the Department of Marketing and Management since 2012. She has published a number of monographs and professional articles, particularly in the field of management skills. In the field of teaching, she specialises in management, HR management, social communication, creativity and innovation.

Ing. Martina Beránek, Ph.D.

Member of Marketing and Management Department

Martina Beránek has extensive professional experience in all levels of management, which she uses while teaching specialist courses. She graduated from the Faculty of Economics at the Technical University in Liberec in the field of Business Administration and Management. She worked in technical management positions during the 1980s and 1990s. Then she moved to the services sector, where she gradually worked her way up to the position of General Manager. She also completed several internships abroad during this period. She has published a number of professional articles, particularly in the field of tourism services. She has also co-authored a monograph focused on business operation. In the field of teaching, she specialises in general management, strategic management, system disciplines, strategic marketing and strategic analysis. She has worked at the Škoda Auto University since 2016.

Ing. Iveta Němečková, Ph.D.

Member of Marketing and Management Department

Iveta Němečková graduated from the Prague University of Economics and Business (majoring in Industrial Economics) and completed postgraduate studies at Charles University – Faculty of Arts (Methods of Applied Psychology). She defended her doctoral dissertation in the field of Economics and Management at the Prague University of Economics and Business in 2011. She has many years of work experience in the field of foreign trade, industrial enterprise, banking and consulting activities focused on company management, human resources management and project work. She completed a professional internship at the London Stock Exchange. In her scientific and pedagogical activities, which she has been engaged in since 2011, she focuses on issues of management, international trade, human resources management, banking and business. She has been working at Škoda Auto University since 2019.

Ing. Hana Volfová, Ph.D.

Member of Marketing and Management Department

Hana Volfová graduated from the Faculty of Economics of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, all with a focus on tourism. During her doctoral studies, however, she began to focus more on marketing, specialising in consumer behaviour, marketing communication and sustainable economic approaches. She has gained practical experience collaborating with companies such as TANY, s.r.o., or Hönigsberg & Düvel Datentechnik Czech on product launch projects (winner of the EcoTrophelia CZ award) or on changes to company marketing strategy. Within the framework of her sustainable development activities, she created a fair-trade simulator for Fairtrade CZ and a educational trail of fair-trade products. She has worked at the Škoda Auto University since 2013 and been assistant professor at the Department of Marketing and Management since the start of 2019.
