The management of Škoda Auto University, headed by Rector Pavel Mertlík, received a delegation from the Vietnamese Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), led by its President, Dr Tran Trong Dao.
The meeting focused on the mutual cooperation between the educational institutions, which the Rector of Škoda Auto University, doc. Ing. Pavel Mertlík, CSc., perceives as very promising, adding: “We consider our cooperation with Ton Duc Thang University to be very important, as it is one of the largest universities in Vietnam and Southeast Asia as a whole, and a leading university in both teaching and research, with strong ties to the Czech Republic. TDTU has a long history of cooperation with VSB – the Technical University (VŠB-TUO) of Ostrava and Tomas Bata University (UTB) in Zlín for a long time and has ties with Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE) and University of Chemistry and Technology Prague (VŠCHT) in Prague. I believe that TDTU can become a perfect local partner not only for Škoda Auto University but also for Škoda Auto a.s. based on its quality, very dynamic development and strong government support, even though Ho Chi Minh City is farther from the site where the assembly plant of ŠA is being built in cooperation with its Vietnamese partner.”
The guests were briefed on the activities of the SAU and toured the modern and historic part of the building where the university is located. Ton Duc Thang University introduced itself with a short video describing its study focus and international ranking.
The meeting took place at the headquarters of Škoda Auto University Na Karmeli. It was attended not only by the Rector, doc. Ing. Pavel Mertlik, CSc., and the Bursar, Ing. Sandra Lacinová, but also Mgr. Petr Šulc, Vice-Rector for Study Affairs and Quality Management, Dr Jan Lachman, Vice-Rector for Science and Research, Mgr. Lenka Stejskalová, MBA, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Ing. Zdeněk Hejda, PhD, member of the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, and Ing. Lukáš Herout, PhD, member of the Department of Computer Sciences.
The Ton Duc Thang University delegation was led by President Dr Tran Trong Dao, who is a PhD graduate of UTB, Dr Dang Ngoc Tung, TDTU Board Member and Advisor to the President, Dr Phan Dao, Director of the European Cooperation Center, PhD graduate of VŠB-TUO, and Mr Tang Khac Quy, Director of the Alumni and Corporate Cooperation Center.
