On Thursday, 16th November, students of the 3rd year of Škoda Auto University had the opportunity to meet and discuss with the member of the Board of Management for Procurement, Mr. Karsten Schnake, who was welcomed to the campus by the Rector of the University, doc. Ing. Pavel Mertlík, CSc.
Karsten Schnake gave a brief introduction to the Procurement Department at Škoda Auto and an overview of his personal perception of the role and activities of modern procurement. In addition, the students learned about the vision of the future until 2030 and the development of sustainability in the automotive industry. Mr Schnake also emphasised the importance of the newly opened procurement course for the training of young procurement experts, who are already receiving excellent theoretical and practical training to meet the challenges of the future.
The discussion that followed took place in a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere and was very open. Among other things, the students learned about the "Coffee" project, in which coffee for employees is purchased directly from farmers in India and Tanzania and roasted locally in Bezděčín. The waste from coffee production will soon be used to tan the interior of the Škoda Kodiaq. Mr Schnake wanted to show the students that it is important to be open to unconventional ideas.
In conclusion, Mr Schnake urged the students to be the ones to come up with innovative ideas and solutions in the future and wished them every success in their studies and careers.
