Course Description:

As the world continues to evolve with technology, it is imperative that students develop the skills and competencies to not only keep up with the changes but also to thrive in an ever-changing world. Using a cross-disciplinary and holistic approach, this intensive course focuses on developing systems thinking, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and innovation skills and competencies that are essential in the 21st century. The course emphasizes the importance of creating sustainable educational innovations that leverage AI technology and specific human skills so called “power skills”. The course begins with an online course that introduces the current state of AI. The students will learn about the benefits and challenges of AI, its potential, and the ethical considerations surrounding its implementation. The course then delves into the specific human skills and competencies needed to create sustainable educational innovations that leverage AI technology.

Blended format:

Online meeting: 1st September 2023

Self study: September 2023

Onsite training & final presentations: 11th - 15th September 2023

Online feedback: 25th September 2023

Fee: € 50 includes the cost of welcome dinner and social activities

Students have to cover all cost by themselves (accommodation, meals, travel, etc.). Students may apply for short-term blended mobility grants via Erasmus+ (70 EUR / day).

Course methods: 21st-century EWA (Empowering Wholeness Adaptive) Edu. didactic and philosophical model of learning, Wholeness systems thinking, lectures based on an interdisciplinary approach, case studies, presentations, group discussions, peer learning, self-assessments, and a focus on individual talent development. Field trip to Škoda Auto to find inspiring solutions that promote the sustainable utilization of renewable resources in logistics, specifically in the production of batteries for electric vehicles. These solutions are not only beneficial for Škoda Auto but also for the entire Volkswagen (VW) group.

Course content: 

Systems thinking

The course will teach students how to think holistically and identify the interconnectedness of various components and the surrounding environment. The students will learn how to use systems thinking to create sustainable and effective solutions that leverage AI technology in the education system.

Entrepreneurship

The course will teach students how to identify entrepreneurial opportunities in the education industry and develop the skills and competencies needed to start and run a successful business and education-based business model.

Sustainability

The course will explore sustainable practices in education and the importance of developing sustainable business models. The students will learn about the environmental, social, and economic pillars and how to create sustainable solutions that leverage AI technology.

Innovation

The course will foster creativity and innovation in the education industry. The students will learn how to think critically, identify problems, and develop solutions that create value for the education system.

Artificial Intelligence

The course will provide a comprehensive introduction to the basics of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and is designed for anyone interested, regardless of their background or level of technical expertise. The topics will cover the following aspects: What is AI? Solving Problems with AI, Real-world and AI, Machine Learning, and others.
